Keepin' it unreal is our latest cd. We started
out in the Moodists in 1978. We've been moving ever since. We
were in Adelaide and then we moved to Melbourne. We went to London in
1983, following our pals, the Birthday Party and the Laughing Clowns
and the GoBetweens and the Scientists and the Triffids. We put out about
three albums and some eps and a lot of this was collected on the 2004
WMinc release " two fisted art". Clare and I then hooked
up with some players and started Dave Graney and the Coral Snakes
in London in 1987. (Playing my songs as well as tracks
by Gram Parsons, Gene Clark and Tim Buckley...kind of alt country before
there was that thing) We moved back to Australia in 1989
and planned to stop for a little while and head back to the Northern
Hemisphere. We started playing as Dave Graney and the White Buffaloes.
Back and forth to the UK and Australia. Back to Dave Graney and the
Coral Snakes. We had a top 10 /gold record moment/period
right in the middle of the grunge rock moshfest. We
played softer and prettier than anyone. At rock festivals and
on radio and tv. It was the music we'd always moved
towards. We weren't scared or impressed by guitars and moaning. We were
right into the drama of hip hop.People thought it was funny. Luckily
we had a great guitar player and a few songs that had guitar on them
that the radio station could play. We moved through the scene like summer
lightning. Eight cds with the Coral Snakes and then we formed the Dave
Graney Show. Then the Royal Dave Graney Show. Then Dave
Graney and Clare Moore...featuring the
lurid yellow mist. Seven
cds since the Coral Snakes period. Clare Moore did her first solo album.
We did a soundtrack for a hit feature film. And then we
will be playing near you in 2007.Our music comes from a music life.
Lifers. The sound comes out of a long dive into deep ,running waters
over many years. Hip hop. hard core country, jazz, reggae. Classic rock?
We were there when it happened and we still do our best to escape it
now!We were into punk rock when it was making itself up.It really is
heavy entertainment.
